Description
79% Cabernet Sauvignon; 14% Merlot; 5% Petit Verdot; 2% Cabernet Franc. The proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon is 15% higher than last year; the character of this grape variety drives the palate. The Merlot, which feels very plump, adds some presence, but overall, the core of the wine is quite linear and direct. It has subtle cassis and cigar box suspended in an airy architecture. The tannins are not penetrating, and it is the lift and purity of the Cabernet which carries the wine happily to the finish. The alcohol is a refreshingly modest 13.3%, and 30% of the overall crop was used for this wine. Our score: 17/20Berry Bros. & Rudd
