The 2023 Sassicaia is intensely floral and perfumed with violets and delicate red fruits. There is a striking mineral note, almost like black olives, that adds savoury depth. The palate is utterly ethereal. This is Sassicaia at its most refined. It is linear and elegant, with delicate spices unfurling gradually while cherries and the purest, sweetest cherry-tomato note provide an irresistible core. It’s a wine that perfectly captures the house style. I could drink an entire bottle now, yet patience will be rewarded.
